Babcock is looking for a Fabricator Welder to join the team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About The Role

As a Heavy Fabricator at Babcock, you’ll work on large-scale fabrication projects for ship and shore-based operations. You’ll shape and weld high-grade metals and build complex pipe systems. As a result, your work will support the safety and performance of naval and industrial assets. You’ll work with a skilled team in Devonport. In addition, you’ll use modern equipment and follow high standards for precision, safety, and teamwork.

This role gives you the chance to use your trade skills in meaningful work. Furthermore, you’ll work in a company that handles complex projects and values high-quality results. You’ll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and share ideas to improve work processes. You may also support other teams and build your skills through planned training. Moreover, you’ll work on different projects.

  • $46 per hour (trade certificate essential)

About You

You’re an experienced fabricator who works well in a busy, hands-on environment. You understand heavy metals, welding specifications, and workshop machinery. Also, you can read engineering drawings and fabricate to exact standards. You take pride in your work, solve problems, and work well with others. In addition, you follow safety rules, are reliable, and can work under pressure.

Key Required Skills

  • Heavy fabrication of steel, aluminium, stainless & copper nickel
  • TIG, MIG, and Stick welding proficiency
  • Pipe system fabrication and mock-up techniques
  • Operation of CNC profile cutters and hydraulic presses
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Workshop process improvement and SOP compliance
  • Cross-team collaboration and support
  • Hazard assessment and HSE compliance

Key Required Qualifications

  • Trade Certificate (Level 4) in Fabrication or equivalent
  • Relevant Welding Certifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine or industrial fabrication
  • Full NZ Driver’s License (Class 1 minimum)
