Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Calculate fixed assets and depreciation.
  • Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed.
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions. Use computer equipment, GPS equipment, or other navigation devices to reduce fuel use and carbon emissions.
  • Have mountain driving expertise.
  • Provide professional customer service.
  • Arrange travel, related itineraries, and reservations.
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • Drive lighter, special-purpose trucks.
  • Load and unload goods.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Check the condition of the vehicle. Inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • Pay and receive payments for goods.
  • Perform brake adjustments.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections. Oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
  • Tarp cargo and ensure its safety and security.
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods.
