Responsibilities
Tasks
- Calculate fixed assets and depreciation.
- Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed.
- Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions. Use computer equipment, GPS equipment, or other navigation devices to reduce fuel use and carbon emissions.
- Have mountain driving expertise.
- Provide professional customer service.
- Arrange travel, related itineraries, and reservations.
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
- Drive lighter, special-purpose trucks.
- Load and unload goods.
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Check the condition of the vehicle. Inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
- Pay and receive payments for goods.
- Perform brake adjustments.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs.
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections. Oversee all aspects of the vehicle.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
- Tarp cargo and ensure its safety and security.
- Transport and handle dangerous goods.
