Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Prison in Chaparral, New Mexico. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping those in our custody prepare for success upon release.
Job responsibilities: You’ll assist with the preparation of all facility meals.
Essential functions:
- Prepare and cook the required quantity of food according to the menu and production sheet.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly, workable condition. Ensure the work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
- Ensure the count and control of knives and other controlled kitchen tools. Provide an accurate count of all controlled items at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and special diets when prescribed by the staff doctor.
- Assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
- Coordinate the work of inmates assigned to assist in the cafeteria, which includes long periods of sitting and standing.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of food service or related experience required.
- Must possess a valid food handler’s permit in the state of New Mexico or the state of Texas.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
