Responsibilities
As a Driver at IOM, you will play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient transport for personnel and materials. Core responsibilities include:
- Driving assigned IOM vehicles for official missions and activities.
- Performing daily vehicle checks, minor repairs, and arranging servicing to ensure roadworthiness.
- Keeping vehicles clean and maintaining records of maintenance, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Selecting safe and efficient routes while adhering to traffic laws and organizational protocols.
- Transporting personnel to and from airports and official meetings, facilitating immigration and customs procedures when required.
- Collecting and delivering mail, documents, and communications between offices, government agencies, post offices, UN entities, and project sites.
- Assisting office staff with simple clerical duties as needed (e.g., photocopying, record-keeping, calls).
- Maintaining discretion and confidentiality in discussions and ensuring the safety of IOM personnel and property.
- Performing other duties as assigned in line with organizational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Italian driver’s license.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations in Italy.
- Experience driving a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Skills in minor vehicle repairs and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation and digital communication tools.
- Fluency in Italian (oral and written); working knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Legal authorization to work in Italy.
