Responsibilities
As a Poultry Worker, you will play an important role in maintaining bird welfare and supporting daily farming operations. Your key responsibilities may include:
- Safely catching, identifying, and vaccinating birds according to established procedures.
- Loading and unloading birds efficiently and safely.
- Cleaning and sanitizing vaccination equipment after use.
- Working closely within intensive livestock systems to support poultry care.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Assisting with additional farm tasks such as pullet shifts, shed cleaning, or gardening duties when required.
- Following strict biosecurity and safety protocols across all farm sites.
Requirements
Candidates applying for this role should meet the following requirements:
- Ability to start work very early in the morning between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
- Availability to work 7–8 hour shifts, usually Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work.
- Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to various farm sites within a 20 km radius of Millmerran.
- Willingness to comply with strict biosecurity protocols, including showering and changing clothes before entering farm sites.
- Agreement not to keep live birds, chickens, pigs, or other avian species at home due to biosecurity policies.
- Ability to work in dusty, dirty, or outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
