Responsibilities
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and reliability of electrical systems and equipment within the assigned plant area. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing day-to-day routine and non-routine electrical maintenance activities independently under normal supervision.
- Maintaining electrical equipment such as switchgears, motors, power distribution systems, and control components.
- Troubleshooting electrical faults to prevent equipment malfunction and downtime.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with occupational health, safety, quality, energy, and environmental procedures.
- Obtaining cold work permits and complying with Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.
- Conducting toolbox talks to review work scope, safety precautions, and required tools before task execution.
- Reporting technical issues and observations to immediate supervisors.
- Providing work guidance to contract-hired manpower and leading contracted teams during plant shutdowns.
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices and proper use of tools and equipment.
Requirements
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:
- High School qualification with a 2-year Diploma in Electrical or a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in Fertilizer, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power Plant, or Oil & Gas industries.
- Proven experience working in industrial or chemical plant environments.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.

Desired Knowledge
An ideal candidate should possess solid knowledge and hands-on experience in:
- Installation and maintenance of low-voltage (415V) and medium-voltage (3.3KV and 11KV) switchgears and motors.
- Maintenance of batteries, battery chargers, UPS systems, alternators, and three-phase motors.
- Electrical systems in substations, equipment rooms, and power distribution networks.
- Hazardous area classification and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
- Low and medium voltage power and control cables, MCCs, circuit breakers, isolators, relays, timers, and overloads.
- Electrical load estimation and motor control center (MCC) operation and design principles.
- Use of firefighting equipment and understanding of safety and emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of PLCs, frequency converters, DC motors, and motor winding (considered an advantage).
