Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician (Shift Support) is responsible for supporting all mechanical engineering activities related to ASRS and manufacturing operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting mechanical engineering functions for ASRS and manufacturing departments
- Observing and actively enforcing company safety and housekeeping policies
- Assisting in mechanical and process troubleshooting activities
- Performing equipment overhauls, servicing, and preparation of parts for maintenance programs
- Maintaining mechanical workshop tools and fabrication equipment
- Carrying out service, repair, and modification works for centralized factory equipment
- Preparing work reports and shift handover documentation
- Conducting daily equipment inspections using approved checklists
- Identifying improvement opportunities during daily operations
- Supporting company-wide initiatives such as 5S and continuous improvement programs
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a mechanical or maintenance technician
- Experience working in a highly automated manufacturing environment
- Ability to work at height, including racking systems and crane equipment
- Strong involvement in equipment or production line improvements and modifications
Skills
The role requires strong technical and practical skills, including:
- Hands-on mechanical skills such as tapping, drilling, wall plug installation, and welding
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues
- Capability to sketch mechanical drawings with accurate dimensions when required
- Strong teamwork and communication skills for shift coordination
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
Desired Knowledge
Candidates with the following knowledge will have an added advantage:
- Working knowledge of mechanical workshop equipment such as lathe and milling machines
