Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication on plate, pipe, and equipment for steam, compressed air, and white water stock systems.
- Weld and fit stainless steel, aluminum, and steel components for new fabrications and repairs.
- Weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) in both bench and field settings.
- Heat and cut metals using oxygen/acetylene and plasma equipment.
- Assist other mechanical trades (Millwrights, Pipefitters) when not performing welding tasks.
- Maintain compliance with Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Interpret blueprints and drawings for accurate fabrication and installation.
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as required.
Requirements
- Class “A” Welding Certificate issued by the Department of Labour.
- Trades school program completion (preferred).
- Current A.S.M.E. all-position pipe ticket.
- Minimum 5 years of recent welding trade experience.
- Experience in stick, MIG, TIG, and wire-feed welding.
- Knowledge of Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
- Strong mechanical skills; additional mechanical trade experience considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
- Good communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions effectively.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, with overtime when required.
- Safety training in Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lock Out/Tag Out, and WHMIS (assets).
- Must provide a clear criminal background check.
