Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain various orchard machinery including tractors, mowers, sprayers, mulchers, forklifts, and quad bikes.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance to ensure machinery is well-lubricated and in safe working order.
- Apply agrichemicals responsibly, with awareness of weather conditions and safety regulations.
- Transport horticultural materials and equipment as required.
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety (H&S) standards and company policies.
- Complete job sheets accurately and on time.
- Supervise or support seasonal staff when required.
- Maintain high standards of productivity, efficiency, and attention to detail in all orchard operations.
Requirements
- Certificate Level IV qualification in agriculture, horticulture, or a related field or at least 3 years of relevant experience in machinery operation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices and equipment handling.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing seasonal demands.
- Physically fit to perform manual and outdoor work, sometimes in variable weather conditions.
Skills
- Proficient in operating heavy farm equipment and machinery.
- Strong understanding of orchard operations and agrichemical applications.
- Excellent concentration, coordination, and hazard awareness.
- Sound maintenance and troubleshooting skills for agricultural equipment.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive in following instructions and safety standards.
Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate starting from $27/hour, with potential to earn up to $30/hour based on experience.
- Minimum 30 hours per week, with flexible scheduling between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Sunday.
